WhatsApp Announces New Features

Among the new features of WhatsApp is the ability to hide your last seen status and the ability to mute participants in an ongoing video or voice call. Additionally, you will be able to alter texts you’ve already sent. There are also plans to expand the number of people that can participate in video calls.

Video Calls Will Be Expanded to a Maximum of 32 People

Previously, WhatsApp supported video calls with up to eight participants. However, last week, the app announced that it will now support 32 members in a video call. The increased limit is expected to be available to everyone in the coming months.

Aside from the increased limit, WhatsApp will also be launching a new feature. Known as the Communities feature, it will allow you to create a group that can bring together people from different communities. It will also allow you to receive updates from the entire community.

Communities will be rolled out alongside the 32-person video call feature. It is likely that the feature will be rolled out slowly, though.

Users Will Be Able to Mute Participants in an Ongoing Video or Voice Call

During group calls, participants can now mute others to reduce background noise and prevent accidental chatter. Previously, members were required to leave the group call to text privately. This feature will be available to all participants in an ongoing call.

While other conferencing applications allow only hosts to mute participants, WhatsApp will let you do it yourself. You can mute a contact’s microphone by clicking on the Mute icon next to their name.

You can also mute yourself by hovering over the volume icon on your phone’s screen. If you do this accidentally, you can unmute yourself at any time.

You can also mute people in a group call using the new individual messaging feature. The feature will appear on your screen while the call is underway. It lets you mute specific participants in a group call, so you can have individual conversations with them.

Users Will Be Able to Reply to Statuses Through Voice Notes

Currently, WhatsApp allows users to share pictures and videos as status updates. But the company is working on a few new features, including the ability to respond to statuses through voice notes.

This feature is still in testing but will be coming soon. The company says it will allow you to select the people you want to receive your voice notes.

Voice notes are essentially short audio messages that you can share with your contacts. They will be encrypted end to end. They will also be able to last for up to 30 seconds. The feature will be available to iOS and Android users.

Users Will Be Able to Hide Their Last Seen Status From Only Select Contacts

Until recently, WhatsApp has not offered an option to hide your last seen status from only select contacts. However, this is set to change soon. A new feature is set to launch in the next few months, and it is sure to be a big privacy win for many users.

The “Last Seen” status in WhatsApp is a feature that allows users to know when other users are online. It will show when the user is online, as well as when the user last checked the app. This is different from the “Read Receipts” feature.

The “Last Seen” feature is only visible to the contacts in your address book. However, this is not the only privacy feature WhatsApp has implemented. You can also choose who can see your status and which ones can’t.

Whatsapp is Working on a Feature Called Communities

Earlier this year, WhatsApp started testing a new feature called Communities. The feature is designed to help users organize and manage group chats. The new feature comes with a set of powerful tools to help administrators manage Communities on the platform.

The new feature has been tested with over 50 organizations from 15 different countries. It will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming months. The feature will allow people to communicate with a group of up to 1,024 people.

Communities is meant for people who are close to each other and want to discuss a certain topic. It is also ideal for groups that are organized around a common interest. Unlike regular group chats, Communities allows members to have sub-groups. For instance, parents on a sports team may want to form a private group for discussing their child’s game.

Users Will Be Able to Alter Texts They’ve Already Sent

Message editing has been a long-requested feature from WhatsApp users, but the company is now working on a feature that will make it easier to change text messages. Not only will users be able to change the text in a message, but they will also be able to fix spelling errors and typos in their sent messages.

This feature was first tested in the beta version of the company’s software, but it is now expected to make its way into the mobile version of the app. The new feature is called the edit and it will enable users to make changes to messages they’ve already sent.
